Straight Teeth in St John’s Wood

Adult Orthodontics St Johns Wood NW8

Conventional Braces or Cfast?

Light coloured braces are used to straighten the teeth without any preparation to the tooth surface.

Brackets and wires are used to guide the teeth into the correct position.

Minimal crowding on the anterior teeth (front teeth) can be corrected in 4-6 months with Cfast in our surgery but more complex cases would need to be referred to an orthodontist and can take between 12-24 months.

Cfast

What is Cfast?

This adult orthodontic system was designed to give you a significant improvement in the appearance of your teeth, discreetly, with minimal discomfort and without significantly changing your biting position.

By focussing on just the front six teeth - the "social six" that make up most of your visible smile we can usually complete treatment in around 4-6 months.

Cfast is a simple, gentle, minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that corrects alignment issues with the top and bottom front six teeth, and can level and round out the arches, thus satisfying the needs of the vast majority of adult patients who seek orthodontic treatment.

Cfast uses clear orthodontic brackets and tooth-colored nickel-titanium wires. The treatment works much like that using clear aligners, but tooth movement is much more predictable and usually more than twice as quick.

The nickel-titanium wires put gentle pressure on the brackets to level and align the teeth with minimal discomfort to the patient. The gingiva follows this movement to achieve a fully aesthetic outcome.

Do ceramic brackets hurt?

It generally takes 3-5 days to get used to the braces. During this time you may experience some discomfort similar to a mild dull ache which is well tolerated or relieved by mild painkillers.

Your mouth may feel a little rubbing from the brackets and this can be relived using 'wax' which is provided to you free throughout treatment. Similar to conventional braces, during treatment there are types of food which you will now have to avoid to reduce the risk of the brace breaking.

We will thoroughly discuss with you the after-care advice and throughout your treatment our team are happy to answer any concerns at any time.
