The ‘Gold Standard’ filling

inlays and onlays in St Johns Wood

Inlays and onlays reinforce the tooth to approximately 80-85% of its original strength. Preparation is conservative as less tooth tissue is removed than for a crown.

Often used for replacing large, broken amalgam fillings too big to be done with a white filling directly in the mouth. Inlays/onlays are tooth coloured.

Why not stick with amalgam fillings?

Whilst there is not any proven medical reason why amalgam fillings should not be placed, in this day and age there are far superior materials available.

Inlays and onlays are custom crafted in the laboratory to exactly fit the prepared cavity in your tooth. Impressions are taken at the first appointment and the dentist places a temporary filling in the tooth. A week or so later the restoration is bonded in place.
